Stowe Much Fun!

Since the Vikings ended the season with a heartbreaker (as usual), we decided to skip the Superbowl this year and go on a ski trip with some people from work. There were 8 of us in total. We went to Stowe, VT and rented a cabin for the weekend. The cabin was very nice - 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, fireplace, pool table, mountain view - we wouldn't have changed a thing (except maybe add a hot tub!).

Getting to hang out with everyone outside of work was great. We converted the pool table into a beer pong table the first night. That made for some great competition. We also ate like kings - cooking chili, steak tips, baked ziti, spinach dip - everything was so good! I got Nicole's spinach dip recipe (yum!) and I can't wait to make it myself.

We got to snowboard two full days at Stowe. It was my first time snowboarding out here all season. It's so much different compared to the hills back home. The first day was awesome. We had great weather and fresh snow. I got into the groove of things pretty quick. We got in so many runs the first day, I didn't know if my legs would be able to handle a second day. I managed to pull it off though and I actually feel like I am improving. I even went down my very first double black diamond - not by choice! I don't plan on doing it again anytime soon, but I did it... and I survived. Haha The second day was very windy. Snow whipped up in your face and the wind could stop you in your tracks at some places. It took a lot out of you, but it was nothing a snack from the Waffle Cabin couldn't fix. If you ever get a chance to eat a ski resort waffle, I highly recommend it (you'll know it when you smell it!).

Stowe had a lot to offer. The chalet/resort area was very impressive with outdoor fireplaces, firepits, multiple bars and restuarants, etc. There were over a hundred trails spread over 4 peaks to ski which kept us busy for both days. My only complaint was the chairs lifts are pretty old and really slow... other than that we would definitely go back! I want to try make it out there in the summer time as well. The area is gorgeous for hiking AND they have the Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory with FREE tastings!! I don't know if they could get me to leave.
